A few seconds from a reconnaissance platform over Iraq that AARO did not close

AARO: unresolved for insufficient data; no basis for attributing extraordinary properties.

- A balloon, drone or drifting object in a conflict zone.
- A sensor artefact.
Why this matters even though nothing is visible
The Mosul orb is in the database as an example of an institution saying “I don’t know” honestly.
AARO could have withheld the footage, or fitted an explanation to it. Instead it presented the clip publicly with the comment that there is too little data to state anything — and that absence of resolution does not imply anomaly.
That posture is a model for the whole field. The category “unresolved for lack of data” has to exist separately; otherwise every blurry pixel becomes evidence.
